The Roscoe Central School Board of Education, administration, faculty and staff are proud to announce the names of the valedictorian and salutatorian for the graduating Class of 2025. The valedictorian is Rebecca Gashinsky, daughter of Julia and Dimitry Gashinsky. The salutatorian is Braden Powell, son of Tamara and Skipper Powell.
Rebecca Gashinsky, valedictorian
Throughout high school, Rebecca has been actively involved in the Roscoe school and community. Some of her notable school activities and honors include Student Government president, National Honor Society president, National Technical Honor Society, OCIAA Scholar Athlete, College Board National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award, National School Development Council Academic Growth and Student Leadership in Learning Award, Superintendent’s Honor Roll, the NYS Regents Award for Academic Excellence, the NYS Seal of Biliteracy, and the DAR Good Citizen Award. Rebecca has been very active outside of school as well. She was captain and MVP of her varsity soccer team, a member of the Oneonta Soccer Club, a student reporter and illustrator for Manor Ink, and a volunteer at the Good Shepherd Food Pantry. Upon graduation, Rebecca will be attending Brown University to study in the Liberal Medical Education program, an innovative eight-year combined B.S./M.D. program.
Braden Powell, salutatorian
Braden has served as a Student Government representative and the Class of 2025 secretary while in high school. Braden enjoys the arts and has participated in band, chorus and drama club. He has been recognized for his musical talents at the All County Music Festival and as a NYSSMA soloist. Outside of the classroom, Braden has worked at the Livingston Manor Public Library and the Shandelee Music Festival and he has volunteered at the Good Shepherd Food Pantry. Braden plans to attend SUNY Orange to study New Media.
